Introduction

Welcome to the website of the Section of Hydraulic Engineering. Together with the Environmental Fluid Mechanics Section we form the Department of Hydraulic Engineering of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences of Delft University of Technology. The Interfaculty Offshore Engineering Group, which is related to the Hydraulic Engineering Section, has its own website at www.offshore.tudelft.nl.

Purpose of this website

We have designed this website to inform and facilitate current students, prospective students, alumni, scientists and practitioners, media, colleagues and our staff on our field of focus. Our homepage offers access to section-related information that we control and update, to our direct "Delft" environment and it offers a login to our staff.

Highlights

Of the vast amount of information that you may find we mention some highlights. Under education you will find an increasing amount of MSc theses that we make electronically available. Under research you will find current and recently completed research project descriptions often with access to publications. Under news you will find media attention, offering access to recent articles in the press. Under publications you will find special publications which are worth a visit. On the homepage we offer access to a Hydraulic Engineering portal, designed for anyone who is active in the field.

Information on hydraulic engineering has been made available in a portal: http://www.kennisbank-waterbouw.nl/. Many on this portal point to the central library of Delt University of Technology. The aims of the knowledge centre are (1) to provide integrated access to library and faculty information resources per subject and (2) to facilitate sharing of the knowledge contained within the user group through use of discussion forums. The primary target users are students and staff of Civil Engineering.

Our Section participates in the Water Research Centre. We refer to the website of this centre for more information.

Finally

We believe in the power of this medium to make information easily available and in the possibility to turn this into an interactive platform in the coming years. Your feedback would be highly appreciated.
